11 Weeks

Baby's now the size of a lime!
Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

How Far Along: 11 weeks and 3 days
Total weight gain: I haven't gotten on the scale this week, but we'll see what it says next week at the doctor's office
Maternity clothes: Not wearing any yet, but I bought some tank tops (and a dress on sale for $6.99!) last week at Motherhood Maternity
Sleep: Sleepy, sleepy, sleepy during the day at work. Luckily, I've had 3 days off work and I've been able to catch up on my sleep. I'm sure I won't think so tomorrow at work though!
Best Moment this week: Knowing I get to go back to the doctor a week from tomorrow
Movement: None yet
Gender: I'm guessing boy or girl
Labor signs: None and I hope not to see any for a long time!
Belly button: Innie
Cravings: I had a craving for pizza yesterday, so we went to Stevi B's. Yummo! BLT pizza is the best!
Nausea: Still present most of the day and now heartburn has been added to the mix. Tums are definitely my friend.
What I miss: Being able to eat whatever without thinking about whether it's on the do not eat list. But if I could guarantee a healthy, term baby by not eating certain foods for the rest of my life, I would do it in a second!
Stretch Marks: Just a few on my belly.
Weekly wisdom: It's nice to be the person a few weeks ahead of someone else that they can ask questions of. I'm usually the one asking all the questions!
What I am looking forward to this week: Getting together with family this weekend for our annual Cherry Blossom picnic on Coleman Hill.

As we draw to a close...

the first trimester of pregnancy, here's my "First Trimester Picture!" Yay baby! Note: I'm not actually showing...that's my general fatness. :-)

10 Weeks!

Baby's now the size of a prune!
With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will start working too.)

How Far Along: 10 weeks and 4 days
Total weight gain: When I got on the scale the other day, it said I was 2 lbs less than I was at the doctor a few weeks ago. I didn't have on clothes (at home, not the doctor's!) so hopefully the total gain won't be that much when I go back in 2 weeks.
Maternity clothes: Still not wearing any yet, but I bought 2 nursing bras and a few more shirts last weekend. I read somewhere that you might as well go ahead and buy nursing bras instead of maternty bras so you'll already have them when you need them.
Sleep: I'm definitely more tired than I have been in recent weeks. I actually slept until 10:30 yesterday! I wasn't as lucky this morning because my back was hurting. Boo. I was having to get up around 4 AM to pee, but my bladder has decided to push that back until 7 AM. Thanks bladder!
Best Moment this week: It was technically last week, but we found the furniture we want and decided on a stroller! See below for pics! AND I finished taking my progesterone! Yay!
Movement: I feel an occasional flutter, but I know it's not the baby yet. It must be muscle twitches or something.
Gender: I still don't know of course, but I have dreams with both, so that's not helpful!
Labor signs: None and I hope not to see any for a long time!
Belly button: Innie
Cravings: I still want sush!
Nausea:Still there most days, all day. We'll see if it subsides in a few weeks when I enter the second trimester.
What I miss: Being able to sleep until mid-afternoon on my days off. I can't remember the last time that happened!
Stretch Marks: No new ones this week. Still using the funky-smelling Palmer's stretch mark lotion.
Weekly wisdom: Cheerios are the devil. I thought I was crazy for thinking this a few weeks ago, but a pregnant friend of mine tossed her cookies when she walked into the kitchen and smelled the Cheerios her husband was eating. The smell is just overwhelming! Who would've thought!
What I am looking forward to this week: Getting through 2 days of work this weekend so I can have 3 days off next week!

~~~
This is the stroller we have decided on. It's the Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 travel system. We like how easy it is to maneuver and the car seat base is easy to install.
This is the Brookline collection of furniture from Westwood Baby we've decided on if we have a boy. Notice it's more masculine than the Stratton below. We definitely wanted a convertible crib and this one converts to a toddler bed, day bed, and full bed. The quality is great and I don't think it will go out of style between now and the time they leave for college. It's definitely something I would choose for my own bedroom furniture.
And this is the Stratton collection by the same company.
Why, hello there fetus!
Here's our ultrasound pic from last week at Dr. Harper's office. You can see the head, arms, and leg buds! So cute!
And now for this week's stats...
Baby's now the size of a green olive!
Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!
How Far Along: 9 weeks and 5 days
Total weight gain: I haven't weighed since last week at the doctor's office, but he did tell me I should shoot for 15-20 lbs total gain for the whole pregnancy
Maternity clothes: Not wearing any yet, but I'm going to be buying some maternity bras and underwear this weekend.
Sleep:I'm getting to where I'm more fatigued and get tired earlier in the day at work. I was wondering if it was ever going to hit me!
Best Moment this week: Finding out there are so many amazing people who want to throw me a shower!
Movement: Nothing that I can feel yet
Gender: Still no clue, but my mom is going to buy me the IntelliGender kit. We'll see how reliable that is!
Labor signs: None and I hope not to see any for a long time!
Belly button: Innie
Cravings: Juice. Any kind. I've become a fan of V8 V-Fusion juices and I'm getting my veggies in on days that I can't eat as well.
Nausea: Oh yes. It's there. Dry heaving and gagging in the shower has become a daily occurrence. Fun.
What I miss:Loving every single second!
Stretch Marks: There are some new ones on my belly. I bought some Palmer's Stretch Mark lotion with shea butter and it smells like rye bread. Weird.
Weekly wisdom: I better get used to new sensations every week. Otherwise, the doctor's office is going to get irritated with me for calling so much!
What I am looking forward to this week: Going to look for baby furniture. Just browsing! We aren't buying anything until I'm out of the first trimester.
8 weeks!
Baby's now the size of a raspberry!
Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.
How Far Along: 8 weeks and 4 days
Total weight gain: I got on the scale today at the OB's office, but I don't know how much I've gained. I guess we'll start keeping track.....now!
Maternity clothes: None yet, although my pants kind of popped open after dinner tonight. Yikes!
Sleep: Still really tired in late afternoon and early evening, but not able to sleep past 8:30. Boo.
Best Moment this week: Seeing our baby doing a little jig and moving up a storm on the ultrasound today! It has gotten so big in just a week! You can see the beginnings of the arms and legs. So cute!
Movement: It's going on, but I don't feel it yet. I can't wait until I do!
Gender: Still no clue...only 12 more weeks to go until we find out!
Labor signs: None and I hope not to see any for a long time!
Belly button: Innie
Cravings: Still craving the OJ and sush...nothing too crazy yet.
Nausea:Vomiting and/or dry heaving in the shower and while brushing my teeth. Yuck. Some days the nausea lasts all day.
What I miss: I love everything about this! Even the nausea and vomiting....the act of it isn't pleasant, but what it means is fabulous.
Stretch Marks: No new ones
Weekly wisdom: It's still so much fun seeing people for the first time after they've found out our good news.
What I am looking forward to this week: Enjoying my 3 days off work
